An Alcoholic Registers For Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcoholism
Donald used to brag to his buddies how he could keep a difficult and full-time job and get smashed almost every night. Unfortunately, after maintaining this destructive lifestyle for roughly four years, he started to notice numerous alcohol related problems.
As an example, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so drained when he awoke. Furthermore, just about every morning Donald experienced an awful hangover. In a word, the combination of his hangovers and his lack of energy did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make things more difficult, he just received his third driving under the influence citation in the past thirteen weeks.
To compound things further, at work his last two work evaluations were less than satisfactory. And finally, his four-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his financial difficulties, depression, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.
Though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply began to look like he was in his mid thirties. Unfortunately, this is what excessive and hazardous drinking can do to an individual. And in all honesty he knew that he was suffering from the negative outcomes of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to waste his life on careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon understood that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Due to the fact that this was an event that was repeated every single time he drank, this obviously worried him a great deal. In fact, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After talking about his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible and hazardous drinking with his girlfriend, he finally decided to schedule an appointment to see his physician. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he genuinely mentioned that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to quit drinking. He then declared that drinking in moderation does not seem to work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively affecting his relationship with his girlfriend. His family doctor referred Donald to Doctor Fullmer, a drug and alcohol addiction therapist, who influenced Donald to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this facility.
After four months of rigorous treatment, Donald left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Encouraged to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and started working out two or three times per week. Within six months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. Simply put, abstaining from drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
