A Married Couple Gets Anxious About Their Hazardous And Abusive Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Display Any Alcohol Dependency Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they deliberately developed an extremely vigorous social life.

The major difficulty, however, is that practically everything they do to have fun somehow involves drinking. For instance, all of the sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and happy hours they go to somehow include drinking.

If they were moderate or responsible drinkers this wouldn't be a big deal. Since they drink rather heavily, however, they are beginning to take note of some definite alcohol-related problems in their lives.

For example, a short time ago Lenny was apprehended by the police for his first DWI and has been leaving early from work because of alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Lenny's last two or three performance reviews at the office have been less than commendable and he has begun to forget what he says or does while he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to show concern about his drinking circumstances.

Similarly, Angie has been feeling unhappy about life in general and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more repeatedly than any time in the past two years. What is more, Angie has been experiencing a lot of throbbing migraine headaches and suffering from excruciating hangovers after drinking. As a final point, Angie has been feeling substantially less active in the morning, she has been showing up late for work, and she has been receiving some unhelpful criticism from her friends, relatives, family members, and coworkers about her excessive and careless drinking.

One Monday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie without any planning at all discovered a fascinating program about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This television special was a real eye opener to Angie and Lenny because some of the alcohol facts that were emphasized appeared as if they were indubitably associated with more than a few of the alcohol related problems Angie and Lenny had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the television program still imprinted in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could mean that they are alcohol dependent or perhaps becoming alcoholic. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the physicians at the local substance abuse treatment center to find out more about the gravity of their drinking situation.

Ironically, although their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was evident that Angie and Lenny were at the very least tackling their drinking problems, they were eager to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could notably reduce or do away with the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to escalate.

When Lenny and Angie went to bed that night, they decided that the next day, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment clinic located in the next town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to cope with the drinking problems that had manifested themselves in their lives, they actually had the most peaceful night's sleep they could recall in the last three years.
